After a long hard day, or even a not-so-hard day, our bodies require rest to digest and renew for the night and coming day. Ease into that rest with easily digestible foods, maybe a cup of herbal tea, and some light stretching.
I've concluded that flooding the mind with work, or deciding to clean that bathroom that you never got to, or having caffeine and sweets all while playing on the computer is no way to enter rest. A habit we need to incorporate is just pure down time. Reflect on the Lord or focus on your family time. Pop some popcorn for a family movie, or if you're alone, read a book, stretch, and go to bed without heavy snacking on that big comfy couch. And to put this habit into practice, I end this blog, because my 18-month old is grabbing the computer for my attention ;-)
