Building our bodies through fitness and nutrition is what we always work towards. But, lets not forget about our faith. Phil Pringle is a pastor of Christian City Church in Australia. He writes with passion because he experiences all that he writes about. Build your faith daily, because the world and its ways always try to pull you in. Living an abundant life can be ours when we stop trying to do it all on our own. Putting faith in God is the answer. It's easy to fall back into what we've always known, but we must fight to change!
Stay on track. Set priorities, and create new habits where old ones either lead to compromised health or unhappy people. God bless. Although I consume lots of raw foods in the course of a week, and always about 1/2-2/3 of my meals are raw, I do not always commit to having an entire raw meal especially one that I feed to my whole family! I sorta pulled this one off with my husband and baby. For my 9-year old and 12-year old, I served their burgers with whole wheat-flax bread.
Serve with raw condiments such as raw cheeze, ketchup and/or chashew mayo. Accompanied by a nice raw slaw or raw soup, this makes a totally satisfying meal. After a long hard day, or even a not-so-hard day, our bodies require rest to digest and renew for the night and coming day. Ease into that rest with easily digestible foods, maybe a cup of herbal tea, and some light stretching.
I've concluded that flooding the mind with work, or deciding to clean that bathroom that you never got to, or having caffeine and sweets all while playing on the computer is no way to enter rest. A habit we need to incorporate is just pure down time. Reflect on the Lord or focus on your family time. Pop some popcorn for a family movie, or if you're alone, read a book, stretch, and go to bed without heavy snacking on that big comfy couch. And to put this habit into practice, I end this blog, because my 18-month old is grabbing the computer for my attention ;-) |
