The proper nutrients are necessary for continual and proper cell growth; antioxidants are also necessary to combat free radical attack. This ensures you stay as beautiful as God made you.
First, choose living foods as often as you can. Too many cooked foods lead to sluggish digestion and overworked organs; also the sugars which come from the majority of processed foods take vitamins away from you; disallowing them to be absorbed in the digestive tract, causing loss of nourishment to every part of your body. Living foods are those with enzymes intact--such as fresh fruits and vegetables which have not been heated over 116 degrees. This will help you get a glow from the inside out. Check out smoothies, raw foods and salads in the recipes section.
Homemade specialties you can do: For your face: Lavender oil for nighttime: Choose a quality base oil such as almond oil, apricot kernel oil, or jojoba oil. For every tablespoon, a drop of lavender will suffice. Make up a jar or mix it in your hand with a lesser amount. Pat onto clean face. The lavender will ease you into sleep while priming your face for a new day, giving you a glow. Coconut oil Lips: The same oil you bake with and use in your kitchen, you can use on your body. Scoop some into a small jar for just that purpose and it's ready to go as lip balm or body oil. I like to add a few drops of essential oil, such as rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, or lemon. Lemon for spots: You have to be faithful with this one for it to work. Each night and each morning, squeeze a little lemon juice from the peel right onto your dark spots. They will gradually lighten. Tip: the lemon you use in your water in the morning can be saved for your beauty routing. There should be just enough juice inside. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate to keep it from going stale or drying out. Papaya, watermelon, cucumber and green tea skin rubs (plus all of these are good for you to eat, of course and help keep skin bright and healthy): For the papaya, either rub the juicy side of a cut up rind on your face or mash up some of the fruit and use a cotton ball to spread it on. let it dry and you'll experience a tightening feeling that you have to yawn out of. Watermelon rind is known for promoting healthy-looking skin. Once the melon is cut, you can put the rind, green part and all or just the white into your high-speed blender with other fruits fit for a smoothie. Also, rub the rind (juicy side) onto problem areas of your skin. Let sit for several minutes then pat with a damp cloth (sometimes i forget to do this part). Cucumber skin contains vitamin E and can be rubbed into the skin for a refreshing antioxidant boost. The whole cucumber (in sliced form) is refreshing to the face and soothing for tired eyes. Green tea can be steeped and made into a refreshing rinse or do as i do, and wipe your face with a semi-steeped tea bag (you don't always want it to be too diluted), or at least, use any steeped green tea bag. Do this after cleansing and before moisturizing. no need to rinse. Enjoy the anti-aging boost. Organic store-bought creams and lotions: I love any that are infused with essential oils, shea butter, aloe, borage oil, apricot kernel or almond oil and various other natural ingredients which are non-toxic. Some toxic skin care ingredients you may encounter are: mineral oil, petrolatum, petroleum, vaseline, paraffin, silicone derived emollients: dimethicone, copolyol, cyclomethicone, etc..phthalates, paraben(s), BHA, BHT, ammonium-based ingredients, isopropyl and alcohol.
